1. Believe me, I'm ont a teacher (except for the odd times I teach someone something about using a computer, but at least then the "God/Programmer wanted it that way" argument works)

2. I could teach at a religious school easily enough using that logic

I would so, SO love to hear the reasoning given for this.

although, it might be so funny that it inures me to other things I used to find funny (So funny I might never laugh again)
Well, it goes along the lines that the gods of those sorts of religions are so bound up in nature that they're really just a manifestation of the creation, in fact when you come right down to it they really ARE just the creation, which is really just the natural world, and that's evolution, right?

wuh?

And: How were the ancient Greek/Roman gods (especially Roman) that bound up in nature?

Reasoning? You there's reason behind such nonsense?

Wonderful. I actually love this disclaimer, but my problem is - it needs to be posted in many more books - including the Bible!

hmm..

I suppose the reasoning would be that that reasoning is given to people who are already converted, and people who don't want to ask anymore questions.

Thumbs down

I guess more lawsuits are on the way:

After an angry debate among parents, Georgia's second-largest school district adopted a policy last night that requires teachers to give a "balanced education" about the origin of life, giving equal weight to evolution and biblical interpretations.

Jay Dillon, a district spokesman, said teachers should teach "all sides of an issue" instead of just evolution.
*wonders if they'll devote 1/4 of a lesson to each origins "theory" that's available... also notes again that somehow all sides seems to equal Christian and Evolution (yeah, I know, other religions = evolution)*

Edited to add: 1/4 of a lesson throughout a students educational life.

What makes me think that "all sides" won't include the Raelian and Planet X theories of non-divine creation? The Planet X stuff includes the idea that Jesus was a fictuional character and Chrisitianity is just another myth. Something tells me it won't be the evolution supporters who get their knickers in a twist if open-mindedness gets to be that open.

But there's going to be lawsuits and counter-lawsuits and appeals and goodness knows what. All repeated in school districts throughout the south and midwest. What a pathetic waste of money. And with some of those parents openly admitting that they're using this to try to get God into public schools, the outcomes of the lawsuits sohouldn't be in too much doubt. I hope.
