Post National Prayer Breakfast

Showing Faith in Discretion (free registration required)

This article left me dumbfounded. If someone told you there was a secretive society that dabbled in international affairs, produced anti-communist propaganda for the Pentagon, supported Central American human rights violators, sold tickets to its prayer breakfast ($425) to lobbyists wanted access, and pushed Jesus on Islamic nations, you might wonder. But this is all on the front page of the Los Angeles Times.

Quote:
Intimate prayer groups begun by the Fellowship still meet regularly and privately, at the House of Representatives, Senate and throughout federal agencies in Washington. President Eisenhower, persuaded by his campaign manager, became the first U.S. president to attend a prayer breakfast in 1953—part of what the Senate chaplain at the time called a "Return-to-God Movement." Every president since has made an appearance at least once, turning the breakfast into a worldwide attraction for the prayerful and political alike.

Remember, it was Eisenhauer who introduced "under God" to make the country Christian.Personally, I think that any President who attends a prayer breakfast as President, is unfit for the job. He can of course attend as a private citizen - but the organisers of the event don't want that.

Wow, our Government hard at work convincing the Islamic fundies that we're not Godless. Somehow I don't think it's working.
