Also, you might remember that "Western" medicine, until about 150 years ago, (it was actually less than that), involved things like blood letting to get rid of the "bad blood" in the body. So saying Western and Eastern is just free association. Japanese medicine is "Eastern", and as far as I know, doing pretty good. I think it's "holistic" versus "conventional", as the more appropriate terminology, as some Western doctors now use a holistic approach. As it concerns Western versus Eastern approach, an Eastern doctor is more likely to outline an actual program for you to do, which is what people like. We'd much rather be spoonfed than actually do it ourselves. A Western doctor will generally just give comments like, "Exercise more, stop smoking, eat less salt, cut down on sugar". |
