Note how they are reffering to the issue as evolution vs. "biblical interpretation" rather than creation science. You'd think those fundie idiots would have learned by now.

I say we go to our local bookstores (B&N, Walden, et al) and put the following sticker in Bibles/Creation books:

"This book contains material on Creation. Creation is a hypothesis, not a theory or fact, regarding the origin of living things. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully, and critically considered."

What scientific proof do these people have to bring other ideas into a scientific classroom?

If people want to have other theories, that is fine but, are the theories testable? can they hold up under scientific peer review? What proof do these people have? Am I missing something?

It angers me that people who have minimal scientific knowledge are allowed to decide what is taught in a scientific classroom. If evolution didn't hold up under scientific scrutiny (which it has for almost 150 years), scientists would have continued the search elsewhere.

There is no atheistic conspiracy to railroad religion with evolution. Evolution wasn't 'created' by C. Darwin to usurp religious authority. Evolution was discovered using scientific principles which have hypothosized and verified the origin of species.

I would never allow my child to attend a school that allowed this to happen. I want my childrens' minds in reality; not in Magic Kingdom.

What really scares me is that Cobb County has the reputation of being one of the best school districts in the state. *Heavy Sigh*

But then again, I once had a bumper sticker that read:

"If Evolution is outlawed, only outlaws will
evolve."

I had to do something in Cobb county one day,and when I got back to my car, I noticed that someone had tried to remove the bumper sticker.

I wonder if this will have any effect:

That is what happens when your State School Superintendent is spending more time running for Governor than running the schools. She even got called before the ethics board for campaigning on the tax-payers' dollar. This is the woman (Republican puppet actually) I saw in Washington, complaining that the federal government need to fix Georgia's Schools. She's the freaking State Superintendent, if she can't get it done, no one can.

Well, her political carrer ended last week when she was soundly beaten in the Republican primaries. I think only the Republicans in her home town voted for her.

Some more recent news: Top scientists rip Cobb evolution disclaimer

Avise and Anderson are two of my professors, and probably the top two evolutionary biologists in the state. What they leave off though is that Anderson is also the Dean of the Franklin College of Arts and Science at UGA, the largest college in the state.

Board member Betty Gray, a retired elementary school principal, questioned whether academy members had ever been in a setting with high school students. The board has heard from hundreds of people on this issue, for and against, she has said previously.

"I've heard from a number of groups like that,"
Gray said.
I wonder is Ms. Gray has ever even looked at a lab or science classroom.

Be thankful. Biblical interpretation is obviously religiuos. It won't last a week if it's accepted.
