Post All right all you 10c freaks.

I am sick and tired of hearing this rubbish about how the 10 Commandments are the foundation for our government. Below you will find the 10 Commandments listed (well 1 version of them anyway, but that's another post). Please take each commandment and reference the pertinent portion of either the Constitution or other federal regulations that are derived from that commandment.
Have at it:

I
I AM THE LORD THY GOD, THOU SHALT NOT HAVE strange gods BEFORE ME.

II
THOU SHALT NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD THY GOD IN VAIN.

III
REMEMBER THOU KEEP HOLY THE SABBATH DAY.

IV
HONOR THY FATHER AND THY MOTHER.

V
THOU SHALT NOT KILL.

VI
THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY.

VII
THOU SHALT NOT STEAL.

VIII
THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOR.

IX
THOU SHALT NOT COVET THY NEIGHBOR'S WIFE.

X
THOU SHALT NOT COVET THY NEIGHBOR'S GOODS.

You should probably head over to a Baptist board or something if you want many responses from people who believe the U.S. Law = 10C nonsense.

V, VI, VII, and VIII are about the only ones that have any resemblance to U.S. laws, and VI really only pertains to civil laws governing marriages. However, since V, VII, and VIII are common to just about all cultures and governments, the 10C pusher still needs to show that the U.S. versions of the law were enacted because of a desire to legislate the 10C, and not for some other reason.

well even those few that do apply: stealing, killing, bearing false witness. they are nearly all incorporated into local laws not the federal.

"Bearing false witness" is the King James translation; modern-English translations have something like "making false accusations", and not lying in general.

I personally think the most influential commandment has been , "You shall not boil a kid in it's mother's milk." I haven't heard of anyone in the USA ever doing that. The rest are pretty much ignored by everyone, including Christians.

Cool

Actually people do it all the time.

(It's a prohibition against milk gravy... which is normal for hamburger and pork. SOS is a violation of that commandment. Jews typically use flour and water gravy if any at all.)

I tried it over there on the BB some time ago. It was interesting while it lasted. The topic was eventually deleted in the purge.

How did it go? Did they have any arguments whatsoever?

It was derailed pretty quickly. I actually have it saved to my hard drive. Lets see...

OK, get this.

EagleLives911 " Gee, and all this time, I thought it was God's idea not to murder, starting with Cain and Abel. Go figure."

crazyfingers "I hope that you aren't seriously suggesting that the story of Cain and Abel in Genesis is "actually" the first murder. "

EagleLives911 " I am very serious. Let's see....Hmmmmm....you wouldn't happen to be an atheist, would you? Someone who doesn't believe the Bible? I never could have guessed from your post! LOL!

Where do you think the Ten Commandments and concepts such as NOT murdering, NOT stealing, etc. came from? Where do you think moral authority comes from?

What evidence do you have that Cain WASN'T the first murderer?

Let's see, I bet you believe in evolution, there is no God, pro-choice, no death penalty, and liberal agendas in politics. Did I leave anything out?

I know, let's forget about the Ten Commandments, the Golden Rule, moral authority, the rule of law, and let everyone do whatever they think is right in their own eyes! It's practically that way now anyway."

It went down hill from there. I imagine you get the picture.

The first biblical murder was in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

Genesis 4:15-17

The God of the OT did some secret creating on His days of rest.

(Chortle! Guffaw!)

I have to wonder just how old "EagleLives9/11" really is. I already know his level of accurate knowledge. How sad! How scary!
