It's not 'god' that has an influence over the world, organised religion has an influence over the world. 'God' influences organised religions.
That is what I say. God is just a conept. But people has given soo much importance and power to this concept over the years that it is everywhere and it is almost a deciding factor in everything. Some friendships end because of it, Goverments rule based on it and many other important things are influenced by it.

Belief in god is not important. It is merely a crutch for organised religion. These religions imply that you need god by making you fear about your life after death. Men don't need god.

"They promise you pie in the sky when you die so you'll eat their shit now."
Thats right. Also most of the christians I know are christians from accident of birth. They just grew up like that, they didn't seek God, their parents influenced them since their childhood.

It is very strange to find a Christian that didn't belived and then converted based on his own feelings and reason. Most of them just fear death and where it leads to.

Good Day

What does "gnashing of teeth" mean?

It seems strange that smart people goes to hell, while televangelists, bible salesmen and religious con artists goes to heaven.
God creates inteligent people and then punishes them for their inteligence...

Critical thinking made ez...

Actually, on planet earth, the men with the most power gets to do whatever they want. Just because they hold a flag with God's name on it really means nothing.
Aaaah, but it does.

"Holding the flag of god", (as you put it) does give you power over the people believing in god.

And also about being "created in god's image". This doesn't excacly hold water, considering that mankind is always evolving. We are not the product of evolution, we are a part of it (a phase).

Heh. Including the pope.
The pope supports evolution?

This is especially true for women, who often receive higher test scores than men and fare better in schools, yet they are to keep their mouths shut, for they have nothing intelligent to offer the far superior male. They are to be submissive and seek employment outside of the home only in service positions.

Of course, service can also mean those positions which are in the service of God now.

Anything that benefits god is a qualified exception to his rules.

What I find amusing is that Christian women (among other denominations do not see the obvious, which I stated above. It's a man's world (according to god and his band of followers), and some women buy into the nonsense. Thankfully, the numbers are dwindling every year.

Yes, the pope acknowledges evolution as a valid theory, and supports it. <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" />
