Question Disease, natural disasters and God

Would someone please explain to me why God decided to create AIDS, cancer, tumors, mental retardation, earthquakes, tornadoes, parsites, etc. ?

Please do not bring up free will because it does not apply to the above examples. Also, the infamous “God works in mysterious ways” excuse is really weak, so think of something else.

Dr. James Dobson, of Focus on my Fanny, says that it all comes about as a direct result of Original Sin.

He did offer the disclaimer to Larry King, however, that he is no theologian...ROFL!!!

So, there you have it, a bajillion people get to suffer random barbaric cruelties due to those pesky two knobs that couldn't follow instructions.

So, are you in some sense asking why there is randomness in the world?

Does the question just boil down to:
Why, if God exists, didn't He create a world with no randomness?

Right after I read that, I imagined the managers of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory saying the same thing. Go figure.

The second time I agree with you in one day and its early, must be some sort of alignment of the stars or perhaps an act of dog

I love all the blame on original sin. punishing people for the sins of their incredibly removed forefathes is immoral. but not when god does it, nope, then its just the right thing to do .

The religious don't have a coherent answer and never will. They can only hope for their fantasy after-life where everything will be fine and dandy.

No! I don’t think you understand my point at all. Disease and disaster are a major part of nature. They are just as complex as humans and animals are, which I’m sure no theist believes are the product of “randomness.” Bottom line. Either God created everything in the universe or he created nothing.

Hi Corso,

Why couldn't God create a world with random elements?
