Is God Just?
It has always seemed God's punishments were a tad bit unjust. I mean destroying the twin sin cities for a little lewdness, and inhospitatility seemed a bit much. What also seems unjust is "judging" people's lives, and using this small time here on earth as the basis for an eternity of torment or reward. This doesn't make sense, and doesn't seem fair. What are some of the responses you have heard to this "unjust punishment" argument?

There is no God...I'd be more 'just' given the alleged 'attributes' of most God(s)ess(es).

One of the arguments I've heard is that God (in his infinite power) can literally 'undo' any evil that he might inflict. He can not only later reward anyone he might kill, but he can remove their pain and longing for their former life etc. I am not too familiar with the christian bible, but I was quoted several lines that supported this thesis. I suppose this frees the christian god from any act of evil.

God would still be an evil a-hole for inflicting the 'evil' in the first place...granted, though, he would be the only one to 'know' he was 'evil' if, ultimately, the act is 'undone'. But, in any event, once an evil sumbitch, etc...even given that 'without audience' scenario ~ hypothetically speaking, as per my usual. |
