One big happy family of gods
Assuming the ontological, cosmological, teleological arguments (and whichever other type of arguments they've concocted lately) are good and in fact prove what they intend to prove. My question is - how is it that theists go about concluding that,
(1) the necessary existent being, (2) the uncaused cause and (3) the intelligent designer are one and the same? Furthermore, I'm not sure any of those arguments exclude the possibility of a plural number of the types of beings they imply. There could be multiple necessary beings, as well as multiple uncaused causers and intelligent designers. It seems to me that at this point, a whole family of god's (ala greek gods) is equally as possible as monotheism. Who do monotheists think they're kidding with these arguments? |

follow up on the family
It seems Homer has as much claim to his beliefs as monotheists do.

Welcome, Brother Fred. You say
It seems to me that at this point, a whole family of gods (ala greek gods) is equally as possible as monotheism. We have a polytheist, known around these parts as OJuice5001, who claims to believe in precisely that! OJ, you listening? Care to comment? |

All of these God's, in What are they residing? Where do they act, if not in God, the one God. We create with God's will. "ask and you shall be given" DD - Love Spliff |

Do these God's share a common universe? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How do you distinguish one of these gods from all other asserted god(s)? I can't. I can't see Gods in the first place, unless we count in humans. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "ask and you shall be given" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How do you know for sure that the god(s) you asked, gave you what you want and not random chance or that it was the god(s) in question and not IPU that fulfilled your wish list? I can't know for sure. I see I experience. IPU = ? I have not been given insight into the way God's, if any, work. I am trying to take what I know, and give an explanation on the questions I receive. Well , if you buy the ontological argument, that rules out the existence of more than one supreme being.
