I'm an atheist and if I thought my kid was possesed by the devil, I probably kill him.

Of course, I'd also be killing many other people and perhaps myself, because I'd be clinically insane and prone to do stuff like that.

ex: I don't think the devil ever claimed that he chose to be thrown out of Heaven... he was thrown out after a war in Heaven. (see Revelation 12:7-9) [I'm not sure if that is supposed to be in the past or future though]
He dared to disobey the supreme being though, so in a way he chose the consequences.
I know that's what the Bible says, but that's not what SATAN would like you to believe. I know someone who ran into him at a job interview and he was claiming that it was a myth he got fired, that he actually quit! And under Hobbies, besides "bowling" and "NASCAR", he listed "working with children." Can you believe that guy? Somebody will probably hire him (maybe the Catholic Church!).

Hi tgamble,

First of all, to answer your question, NO, of course atheists wouldn't kill their children for that reason.

But lets look at this from a christian viewpoint. If you ask most christians where the children are now, they will probably answer something like "they are with god in heaven now, etc., etc.". Therefore, Andrea Yates is a saint. She sacrificed her own salvation to guarantee that her children would go to heaven. What a selfless act. But hey, if she repents her sins, maybe she can still get to heaven with them. What a deal. Or maybe she will go to hell for what she has done. But surely the childrens idea of heaven would include their mother. Watching their mother burn in hell for all eternity doesn't sound like a very good heaven. Oh well, who are we to question gods plan? (sarcasm)

Well, any guy that would haul a sack of bones around the dessert, arranging them into dinosaur shapes just to trick us into believing in evolution...well, I guess he'd do about anything. And he must have done this because when I was a teen, my Training Union teacher at church told me that Satan buried those dinosaur bones to trick us. Now I call that mean. Here, millions of people, instead of getting to go to heaven wearing jeweled crowns in air-conditioned comfort and not having to go to the bathroom, have to spend eternity roasting and being stuck in the hiney with pitchforks. And for what? So he could have the pleasure of going, "Ya-ya; tricked you!" So you are absolutely right; that guy should NOT be trusted! I'll bet God is furious. I picture Satan as being kind of like a mean Gilligan, with God as The Skipper, going, "Sataaaaan; oh, boy, if I get my hands on you!" (Satan throws sack of bones down, holds onto his hat, and jumps behind palm tree; God slips on bones, takes a fall; closeup of Satan grimmacing ruefully; laugh track).

... In contrast, the surveys uncovered no child abuse by satanic cults, a practice that received much publicity a few years ago. "More children are abused in the name of God than in the name of Satan," Bottoms contends.
