Thumbs up

A gift isn't earned. In theory, at least. But if you were to go into detail about how what some people who profess to be Christians do amounts to 'earning salvation' - which I think is what you're saying - I might agree with you. I don't anticipate I'll agree that it's supposed to be that way although you're welcome to lay out why you think it is, if you believe it's inherent in the theology and I will read it.
Heaven and Hell come from the theology, Helen...and that isinherent.

A gift isn't a gift if it is coerced with threats or posthumous promises.

The world is full of doublespeak, based on my experience, so, I would be surprised if the church had managed to be completely free of it.
I was speaking of your post...which we are currently whirling about like dervishes.

I try to...recognize the doublespeak then negotiate my way around it where I find it, rather than be tripped up by it. I'm not sure what else to do. If you have some better ideas let me know.
I've tried to do that, my friend, since I've met you.

Question

Is that tax-free?

Anyway, he's only doing it for this month, right? So, you could make $40 for the Thursday nights, and $25 (well only $20 now if you missed this past Sunday) for a total of $65. I think I still come out ahead doing a few hours of OT at work (even after taxes, plus I get some more in my 401(k)).

Nah, they'd have to at least double it to make it worth my while ... and even then, I'm not sure it'd be worth listening to that garbage. Maybe I could sit in the back with a walkman on.

This was on the front page of the paper in New Orleans the other day. It sucks though, it's in Shreveport, like 350 miles away, otherwise I'd have some fun.

I'd love to go drop a few "Praise Jesus" lines, until I got bored. I wonder if they'd let me read there.
