Sure. There are several excellent books I could recommend. A good place to start is with a good historical geology textbook, for instance Wiccander and Monroe's Historical Geology, or Condie and Sloan's Origin and Evolution of Earth. Two other books on about the same level would that I would highly recommend are Tjeerd van Andel's New Views on an Old Planet, and Strahler's excellent, though somewhat dated, Science and Earth History.

From here I would go to a sedimentology and stratigraphy textbook. I have, and would recommend Principles of Sedimentology and Stratigraphy, by Boggs, Sedimentology and Stratigraphy by Nichols, or Principles of Stratigraphy by Lemon.

If you search through Half.com, Amazon.com Zshops, or Ebay, you can probably find some of these books pretty cheap.

Probably the best piece of advice I could give you, though, is to locate your nearest university library and use it for all its worth.
