Local Atheist and Pres of AHA featured in Review Journal
Mel Lipman is a local attorney and atheist activist. He regularly send letters to the editor here, and has appeared on televised debates on such issues as the Pledge Ruling. He was recently named President Of the American Humanist Association. We are quite proud of him and he was featured in todays paper. Here's the article.

He looks like a good candidate. Some years ago, Kurt Vonegut was president of AHA, and treated it as a do nothing office. He actually said that he would advise a lot of people to find a church.

Vonnegut is honorary president of the AHA, which effectively is a do-nothing position. He has been critical of the position, saying he has never even been to AHA's headquarters. Another famous former president was Isaac Asimov, who was much more than an honorary president.
Mel is a good friend of mine here in Vegas. He's one of the most level-headed people I've met in my years of involvement with freethought. I think he can help guide the AHA to be more pro-active organization that is open to people across the political spectrum. Mel also is a proponent of godless groups working together, either formally or informally. Thanks to LadyShea for posting this. THOUGHTfully Yours, Clark |

Thank you for posting. Reading the article helped reduce my discouragement about fighting religious and political propaganda.
Thanks again |

I agree with Toto. He sounds like a very able candidate, and I'm sure he'll do a great job!
I read the editorials daily, as I'm sure he does too. I'll make sure to let you all in on any such letters that I might write. I know other folks here have posted letters that they've sent to local papers before. I think it's a good way to get our voice heard. |
