Womens Rights vs. the Bible
I get approached all the time by a good friend of mine about converting to Christianity. She belives that she live by the teachings of the Bible. This seems noble but is not the path for me. I ask her what issue, in the Bible, she "rebels" from the most. She tells me that she likes the way she is treated here in America, but is obligated to understand how, according to the Bible, people can assume women are present here on Earth as a helper or assistant to men as a supreme sex. It states in Genesis that "The Lord God said,'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a *helper* suitable for him.'" Genesis 2:18
She tells me everyday she asks God for forgiveness for not being subservient to all men, but couldn't imagine ever living that way. Now me personally, I believe totally in equal rights for all person here on Earth. No matter race, sex, nationality, sexuality, or creed. I ask to all, "How can anyone be a devout Christian and beleive women are inferior to men, as written in the Bible. If anyone has a comment or question on this topic or a related topic, please I implore you to post it. Please forgive any typos or ignorance to certain facts due to my lack of knowledge. I am doing this so that I will be better informed. Thank you fro your time. |

That was #2 on the list "Five Reasons Bonduca Gave Up The God Habit." Frankly, I think your friend should chuck the whole deal and hang out with us.

Well, I heard this before and I know how to help your friend to argue with her pastors and show them the equality between man and woman. There is a verse in the bible that says that woman was created out of the man's ribs. So, since ribs is near to a person's heart , it was considered the best part of the body. In short, this mean that woman was created from the best part of man's body.
I hope this helps. |

Thanks for that reply Answerer but how does this statement make men less superior in the Writings of the Bible?

That scripture could be interpreted to state that God created man from the dust of the ground and women from man. This is totally sexist statement. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Excellent question, but what in the world does this have to do with E/C? Someone please move this to a more appropriate forum, it is likely to receive better responses that way.
