Number of words in book of revelation
Hello, I have a question for all you authorities on Greek out there.
The question is this: How many greek words are there in the book of revelation? I realize there might be different greek texts, but the main one is Nestle-Alands is it not? The reason I ask is that the some claim there is a miracle in that the number of words in it is 888, the same value of the word Jesus. Anyhow, it wouldn't be a miracle if that were the case, but I would be interested in seeing if it is true or not. Kevin |

Ahh, numerology.
Gonna put in a pre-emptive "Keep it civil" here. Numerology arguements, for some reason, get heated around here... |

There are between 9000 and 10,000 words in the Greek text of Revelation.

I haver never thought that there is much mileage in seeking 'secret' meanings in the Bible-888 in Revelation or anything else.
However, I remember William Barclay saying that the Greek in Revelation is the worst in the NT. Apparantly it is translation Greek. Just thought I'd mention it. |
