The Historical Odin.
I was listening to BBC Worldservice this morning before work and heard that they are digging on the coast of the Black Sea where a river flows into it, for the village believed to be the home of the historical figure who, ca. 1st century BCE formed a basis for the Norse diety Odin. Apparently locating the site from myths wasn't that hard because the name of the river which was referred to in a legend, hasn't changed for 2000 years, but getting permission to do work there during the Soviet era was difficult. The guy leading the expedition is also famous for recreating raft trips over the ocean replicating that of prehistoric mankind.
