Default Interesting article

CNN put up an article about religion in America that can be found here:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/08/15/nyt.kristof/index.html

It had some interesting thoughts and tidbits, such as 3 times as many americans believe in the virgin birth then evolution.

I wish I could say I'm surprised.

But I do think that we're in the middle of another religious Great Awakening,
Isn't that an oxymoron?

On the other side, there are attitudes like those on a Web site, dutyisours.com/gwbush.htm, explaining the 2000 election this way:

"God defeated armies of Philistines and others with confusion. Dimpled and hanging chads may also be because of God's intervention on those who were voting incorrectly. Why is GW Bush our president? It was God's choice."
:banghead:

Actually the article isn't that bad, considering it does mention that the virgin concept may have been added later to make it more supernatural.

The kicker for me was:

Quote:
an echo of virgin birth myths that were widespread in many parts of the ancient world.
Gee, if not that, why not much of the rest of the bible?

If the bible was written today, there'd be copyright lawyers all over the creators...
