Well, thats good. Its still odd that they would do it in the first place. First thing I would have done is found a bunch of theistic plates to be offended by and get like-minded individuals to sign my petition.

So what's the real difference? The car owner is paying for it, not the state. What if I got big block letter stencils and painted 'ATHEIST' all over my car? Would they make me repaint it? Of course not, because it's my vehicle and I can do what I want to it.

Of course, even that "venue for people's free speech" is limited. I remember a case down south about someone getting fired for having a rebel flag sticker on their vehicle at work. And that was deep in South Cackalacky!

I've seen bumper stickers that would offend many more people than one that just said 'atheist' on it. It's insane that cases like this have to be fought.

I think the behaviour of the people in Florida answers that question pretty well.

Hell yes they're that ignorant.

A fellow graduate student of mine was actually pulled over by a rural Georgia cop and threatened with a ticket if he didn't take a bumper sticker off his car. All it said was "Plants and animals die to make room for your fat ass."
