ATHEIST plate revoked
I don't know if this has been discussed already, but I just noticed the story and found it obscene. What about you?

I still like the Manatee plate that said "EAT UMM". I hope that wasn't taken away. That's really clever.

Louisiana online personalized plate request Note that ATHEIST. is AVAILABLE!!! Please someone get it. I would get it in a heartbeat if it wouldn't flip out my parents when they visit. |

I liked this bit:

Of course, even that "venue for people's free speech" is limited. I remember a case down south about someone getting fired for having a rebel flag sticker on their vehicle at work. And that was deep in South Cackalacky! I've seen bumper stickers that would offend many more people than one that just said 'atheist' on it. It's insane that cases like this have to be fought. |

There is another thread on the forums somewhere that asks something to the effect: "Are Americans really this ignorant?"
I think the behaviour of the people in Florida answers that question pretty well. Hell yes they're that ignorant. |

A fellow graduate student of mine was actually pulled over by a rural Georgia cop and threatened with a ticket if he didn't take a bumper sticker off his car. All it said was "Plants and animals die to make room for your fat ass."
