Driving home last night I caught this ad on a local x-tian radio station. Make godbots early I suppose. |

From a Xian perspective I would suggest that Christmas is more anti-Xian and Halloween ever was. Christmas is all about consumption, (atleast in its modern incarnation) gluttony and greed.

Stan: You know, I've really learned something today. Halloween isn't about costumes, or candy. It's about being good to one another, and giving and loving. Kyle: No, dude, that's Christmas. Stan: Oh, then, what's Halloween about? Kyle: Costumes and candy. Stan: Oh. --W@L [ October 23, 2002: Message edited by: Writer@Large ]</p> |

Even though I grew up in a rural Southern environment, I never received a damned Chick tract instead of a candy bar. A bit of fruit or some crummy candy was as bad as it got. Perhaps kids do have it harder these days than I did.

According to the show “The History of Christmas” It was originally Christmas (1700’s) that was a drunken, dress up in costumes and trick or treat type holiday. The church hated it and some fanatics moved to the USA to escape the drunken brawl. It was only in the last 100 years or so that the church even approved of Christmas.
