Jesus Christ's Teachings in Disguise
Some of us may know of experiments in presenting people with the Bill of Rights -- experiments which sometimes result in many people calling that document subversive.
It would be interesting to try similar experiments with Jesus Christ's teachings. Perhaps with a little editing to disguise their source. Such as referring to "the Mistress" rather than "the Father". |

Not quite the same thing, but I know xtians who will not accept the OT's version of god's personality. god is love therefore the OT isn't relevant anymore.

Why don't Christians just throw out the OT? They have a hard enough time trying to reconcile the thing with the NT...

Without the twisting of the OT prophesies it is hard to make a case that Jesus was "the" Jewish Messiah. Most Christians that I know have a love/hate realationship with the Old Testament. That is why they juggle accepting it as the absolute Word of God and yet not needing to follow what it says (especially regarding the Levitical Laws).

I was thinking of what people would say about teachings like
Love your enemies and let others continue to attack you, commit crimes against you, and exploit you Sell everything you have and give the money to the poor Leave your family behind to follow JC Don't bother to take care of yourself or earn a living, because God Almighty will rain food down on you Consider making yourself a eunuch for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven if they were presented in some disguised form. |

I was thinking it might also be beneficial to compile a list of demonstrably Xn principles (complete with scriptural reference) to produce when confronted with the "this country was founded on Xn principles" myth. d |

I read that many christians interpret the becoming a eunuch thing as renouncing marriage for the kingdom of heaven. It seems they are quick to re-interpret when it suits them, but when it doesn't, re-interpretation is sinful.
My father is a liberal christian, he thinks the old testament is mythology. I agree, but doesn't the NT rely on the OT? What point is there to having Jesus if there's no fall of Adam in the OT? |
