Default Another Abortion thread...

I offer a challenge to anyone who wishes to take it: I say no to all abortions, change my mind if you can.

condition where the mother and child will probably die if the pregnancy is carried to term.

Given that you tell us nothing about what kinds of things might work, any statement will be a stab in the dark, so to speak. If, for example, you are a stubborn person, set in your ways, it may be impossible to change your mind no matter what anyone says.

With that in mind, do you care to give us any additional information, such as why you say that abortion is wrong in all cases? Is it for religious reasons? A whim? The result of thinking about whatever ethical system you believe is correct, and believing that it follows logically from your other beliefs about ethics?

What system of ethics, if any, do you use to make ethical determinations?

That's just plain f'n stupid.

What if the woman was raped?

What if the baby was going to be born with defects?

What if the mother was going to die if the baby was carried to term?

Chances are these questions mean nothing to you and you are a.) a troll b.) a closed minded member of the religious reich c.) and idiot or d.) all of the above.

My older brother used to play this game, except he would take things that were obvious such as "I think the world is flat, change my mind if you can." or "I think that 1 + 1 = 3, change my mind if you can."

Of course, no matter what you said, he will come back and say, "You still have not convinced me."

He thought it was funny.

I just don't play this game. If you are interested in a discussion to discover the truth of the matter, I will discuss. If you want a content to determine if I can force, by reason, you to utter a particular string of syllables, come back when you have a suggestion more worthy of my time.

This looks like ~~Elsewhere~~ material to me - the OP certainly doesn't make an MF&P-related statement.

The pregnancy is going to kill her before the age of viability. What possible justification is there for not having the abortion?

Molar pregnancy. What's growing is far more a tumor than a baby--it could never live outside the uterus. Without the abortion it will also kill the mother.

Lassa fever/third trimester. Fetal mortality is about 100%. Without an abortion, maternal mortality is quite bad but I don't remember the number. With an abortion the mortality is normal for the disease.

Bad argument.

If the fetus is a person this is *NOT* justification. If the fetus is not a person, you don't need the justification.
