Post Internet Filtering Software

<a href="http://netizen.uoregon.edu/documents/religious1.html" target="_blank">Filtering Software: The Religious Connection</a>

This is a matter of First Amendment concern when this filtering software in installed in libraries.

I did a research project in grad school about Internet blocking software. I found that they are not only religiously biased but politically biased as well. Therefore any employment of them by the government is in violation of the first amendment of free speech/free religion grounds. Republiklan congressmen who have found their websites blocked have changed from pro-IBS to anti-IBS realizing what danger a censoring government can become.

Here is a great site for a historical (as far as the internet goes, 5 years is historical) look at filtering software.

Big "Christian" Brother is watching.

Freaking thought police suck. We finally get a technology that has the potential to connect everyone in the world and provide access to information in places w/o the resources to build and stock huge libraries--and what happens?

A bunch of fundie Christian companies take it upon themselves to decide what is right to inquire about.

I used to just dislike the freakin' meddling Xians. Now I feel a disgust growing into hatred.

What do all of these conservative religious Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have in common? They are all using filtering products that are also being used in U.S. public schools.
Thanks for the link.

I've just found out that a number of "net nannys" filter out talkorigins! Why this is so is still a matter of question. It might just be because sex is mentioned often, which of course it has to be in any discussion of evolutionary processes. But you'd think the people who made those programs could distinguish between the usage. However, I wouldn't be at all suprised if it's being blocked by some conservatives who don't like the "godless" aspect.
