35 and 7
Consider two scenarios:
1) A 35-year-old man has a loving, sexual relationship with a 7-year-old girl. 2) A 35-year-old man has a loving, platonic relationship with a 7-year-old girl. Are there circumstances in which the sexual relationship would be better for the girl than the platonic relationship? If so, what are those circumstances? |

1) A 35-year-old man has a loving, sexual relationship with a 7-year-old girl where she is clothed, fed, educated, and where her and her loved ones are kept safe from other physical dangers outside of the dangers inherant through the physical actions of sex.
2) A 35-year-old man has a loving, platonic relationship with a 7-year-old girl where she is denied food, forced to sleep in the elements, beaten to severe injury on a regular basis and forced to watch her parents slowly tortured to death. Extreme situations are a subset of all situations. If one wishes to argue against non-extreme situations, then it it their responsibility to be precise and say so. |

If all circumstances other than the relationship are equal, are there circumstances in which the sexual relationship would be better for the girl than the platonic relationship? If so, what are those circumstances? Or, perhaps one of the resident pedants could suggest better wording? I'll amend the question as needed, although I think my intent is clear. |

No. See how simple things are when one says precisely what they mean? |

Still considering the 35-year-old man and the 7-year-old girl: Are there circumstances in which the man would have the opportunity to have a sexual relationship with the girl, but would not also have the alternative of having a platonic relationship with the girl? If so, what are those circumstances? |

I've got a better one...
Consider ONE question: Is there any situation where a sexual relationship between a 35 year old man and a 7 year old girl would be appropriate? Answer: No. Never. |

Answer: No. Never. Agreed. And THIS is the point that needs to be argued, not whether in every single hypothetical case a sexual relationship is harmful. |

I seem to have missed the kerfuffle resulting over this issue, but have no interest in reading up on its particulars. Despite my lack of involvement, however (and apparent lack of justification in addressing the drama associated with it), I think it can be safely stated that some people need a swift kick in the ass.
