Talk to your wife or the therapist about the divorce threats and mention the likely effecf it is having on your son. You told us thle boy was having behaviour problems.

Thanks everyone.

We hashed it all out again a few days ago, preceded by a few days of the cold shoulder to each other, and seem to have put the fire out.

Something encouraging she said (about a different friend) was that the class she is in has taught them to realize that the relationship is more important than the issue at the time. And I have noticed a big difference in her approach to the religion problem, with the exception of the latest argument.

A few days after she made the implied divorce threat, and we had made up, we were talking about the job (which I didn't take, less pay) and she made a joking comment about me needing my family for support. I didn't know how to take that, so I didn't react to it. In a way, I'm glad that she realized what she said was simply a last-ditch attempt to goad me back into believing, but once she saw it didn't work, now can joke about it. I hope.

As far as the kids, they weren't present when she made the comment, and our "fight" really didn't amount to much more than a half-day of silence and a few e-mails. Neither one of us wants a divorce. I think when her faith is threatened by my refusal to accept god and religion, she falls back on the only thing she can to hurt me, divorce. It won't work, and I think she's coming to that realization.

I'm glad the conflict from a few days ago has eased, VP.

It occurs to me that if Vicar had a quarter for every post in this thread, he could buy another guitar...

Well, he has posted 131 times in here...that'd be a cheap guitar, but still $32.75 is a decent sum of money.
Of course, he just barely gets beat out by HelenM, who has posted 132 times here. Quite a race we have going! Helen's 132 posts here mark 1.875% of her total 7040 posts here on II! Helen seems the surefire winner though, because no matter how many posts the Vic makes, HelenM will always be there with the inevitable "I'm sorry that __________, Darren." post.

brettc with 60 and B.Shack with 55 don't even come close. This even though B.Shack likes to split his posts into multiple posts spanning the entire rainbow!

Yes, I know I have to split my posts up. They, (the dominating authorities at the Internet Infidels) don't let me alter a post after 2 hours. Therefore I sometimes have to make a new post. I hope we've helped Vicar Philip avoid being manipulated by the Christians round him.

Uh Oh Vicar,

I think you're going to have to come up with another Jesus freak out crisis. Things are going so well that this thread is deteriorating into withdrawal posts!

I meant all the posts in the thread. At the time, there were 793 posts x $.25 = $198.25

I always like the "I'm glad things have gotten better." from all of us, too. At least that's the direction I'm always hoping this thread is heading when I visit.

(On a curious sidetrack -- how are you guys compiling that statistic "# of posts by a specific individual in this thread"? I don't want to derail the thread, but if someone could PM me with this info, I would appreciate it.)

You guys are hilarious, and some of you have WAY too much time on your hands!!!

I've just made a tough decision concerning another job opportunity (not the travelling one), and every day my wife asked me if I had prayed about it. I continued to not answer her. Last night she asked me again, and I said a very firm "No." She hasn't mentioned it again, so I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Must be god! Not.

Amazing how lots of people still think the only way to get true guidance is by asking an imaginary phantom. No thanks, I'll take a thinking, feeling human any day over that. Now if I can just convince my wife.....

As always, you guys are great, and THANK YOU.

Darren
