Talking Re: What "kind" is it?

Fascinating thread. I wish I got around to checking E/C more often ... the few critters i could think to offer have already been posted. Just wanted to make one comment on the OP:

It also lays eggs like fish, reptiles, amphibians, and birds but they nurse their young like mammals, though rather than having teats, they ooze milk out of special glands.
Eww. I will never be able to look at my Sonic games the same way, ever again.

Ladyshea: do you know this site you linked to very well? Are they serious, in your opinion?

The thing that makes me suspicious is this, from their store:

Quote:
This uncomfortable undergarment will be a daily reminder to unmarried women to find a husband and a emergency moral reminder to her would-be-suitor. (For use under traditional underwear only.)

This product is designed to fit juniors. It fits snug, sizes run small. Please see our size chart for more information.
And this:

Kids love stickers, especially illiterate public school kids! This large sticker is perfect for Mall Missionaries faced with cynically secular teens. Their eyes will stop rolling when they see this!

And the more I read, the more I suspect. EVERYTHING on this site is just slightly too tongue in cheek. Its like landoverbaptist made subtle.

The forces of Secularism just keep trying. It would be comical if it weren't so dastardly.

I love it! I'm keeping this.

Oh shit...I didn't check it out...Minnesota linked to it on page 2. How sad is it that it sounds plausible from YEC's?

In a similar category is a South African bird that looks a heck of a lot like the North American redwinged blackbird. It's pretty uncanny also...

Two quick corrections

" . . .echidna has one posterior opening only through which is eliminates and reproduces called a cloaca, a characteristic shared only with fish, reptiles and amphibians."

Both the koala, a marsupial, and the North American pygmy shrew, a placental, have a cloaca.

"The platypus . . . has the . . . distinction of being one of only two venomous mammals.
The other venomous mammal is the short tail shrew.
"

Like the shrew, the solenodon, an insectivore, also has poisonous saliva.

Should I edit the original posts with some of these corrections, or let them stand as separate posts for discussion?

That crosspot site is parody. I recognized it when I clicked on it. I had saved it into my Favorites sometime ago. There was some thread several months ago in Infidels humor I think, that brought to attention their "Landover Baptist Shutdown" mission.

So it'll be the male echidna only that has the non-functional spur then. <-- evolutionary prediction
Yep, only the male. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. Great thread!
