Bible quotes from NIV

This is from Galatians 3

Quote:
26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
I've heard this passage used to show how we will be "released" from all our "carnal desires" when we get to heaven. No sexes = no sex. (This is supposed to be a good thing?)
Yet the same guy who believes this believes we will all get a "glorified body" when we get to heaven, probably just to frustrate us more.

Therefore, John Hagee will morph into John Basedow...but still won't be able to find his penis.

As for celibacy, this is from Matthew 19:

Quote:
For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage[ 19:12 Or have made themselves eunuchs] because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it."
The genius Origen took this literally and castrated himself (ouch). He regretted it later, though. Brilliant. Paul did claim to be celibate but allowed others to marry so they wouldn't "burn with lust." Darn nice of him, I think.

Pie? I'll eat anything but "no," I am not a 'desert' person if that is what you mean and never have it.

Who writes your material Amos? Man, it's hard enough adding "clownisms" to every post! Dude, you are out there!

Did you catch that about celibacy and why the priesthood must be celibate? (unless they were never meant to be priests, I guess).

You better watch that yoga or you'll be faced with the new paradox "the flesh is weak but the mind is [still] willing"

I should have added that a true metanoia would include the above reversal of "the mind is willing but the flesh is weak."

The reason Paul (and others) advocated celibacy if at all possible, was because they thought that before their generation had passed away, Jesus would be coming back. He had promised them that, after all. They were just saying it was better to marry than to burn, if you just couldn't stay pure and celibate for the few years it would take until the Second Coming of Christ.

I've also often wondered about "the resurrection of the body." When I used to go to Mass we always recited the Creed. I think I still have it memorized. Near the end you say that you believe in "the resurrection of the body and life everlasting." So, if we are going to have actual glorified bodies, will we be men and women? Or androgynous? If we will be able to enjoy other corporeal pleasures like eating and drinking and the sun on our faces, will we be denied sexual pleasure? Or will we merely be infertile?

I have so many questions....but luckily I am not one of those who thinks I will live forever in a paradise on earth. Thank God!

Can't have sex without a penis or a vagina.

For that matter, you can't see, hear, smell, taste, etc, without the appropriate organs.

And well, I don't even wanna get into the brain...

I'm telling you all that the Mormons have it all figured out.
In the Mormon heaven the man can have many wives, he can get them all pregnant with spirit children and become the God of his own world. You can't hold the Priesthood without a penis.

No wonder the LDS church is growing so quickly. That's quite a sales pitch.
