Post John 17:1-2

Quote:
John 17:1-2
Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.
Why is Jesus speaking of himself in the third person?

Why the strange words "all whom you have given him". This is saying that Yahweh gave "somebody" to "somebody else" (ie all who are saved).

Is Jesus really speaking about himself?
I do not believe that he is but what are the explanations for this?

He frequently referred to himself in the third person. Exactly why this is, I don't know - but if you peruse the gospel record, you'll find plenty of examples.

There's no way in the world that anybody can prove he's referring to anyone but himself in the opening verses of JOhn 17.

John 3-13 seems to have JC talking about himself being in heaven while he is stil here on earth.

Passing odd I would say.
