Faith-based Funding Protest in Chicago Went Well
Hi, everyone.
I haven't posted in a while but I have been lurking. Hope everyone is doing well. I just got back from a protest outside the Chicago Hilton at 720 S. Michigan Avenue. It was organized by AA - hope that's okay to mention here. Inside the hotel, they were having an informational conference supporting the faith-based initiative, and many potential recipients of funds were in attendance. Some even came out to talk to us to find out what the main beef was, and a few of them were surprised to hear our side of the story. No harsh words were exchanged. We had a nice group - about 10 I would say - very peaceful, nice conversationalists. It was also a rare sunny, 50-degree day, which felt balmy to us. We were right in front of the hotel with lots of lunchtime pedestrian and auto traffic going by. Lots of positive honking and words of support from passers-by. All-in-all, it went well and I think we made a very positive statement. Just wanted to share some good news on the activism front. |
