Post Raelians Endorse ID?

I'm still thinking it could be a hoax but we'll assume that is rael for now.

That lovable UFO cult, the Raelians have embraced ID.

See <a href="http://www.prweb.com/byindustry.php?prcatid=31" target="_blank">http://www.prweb.com/byindustry.php?prcatid=31</a> (a couple articles down).

Now, ID rhetoric has stated from time to time that the mysterious designer could be extraterrestrials. Given ID's "big tent" approach to evolution skeptics, anyone willing to bet that ID movement will accept the Raelians into the fold?

I bet with the Raelians approach to sex, religion and many other issues, Phil Johnson, Dembski etc are just itching to have them on board.

I dunno. Some aliens know as the Great Mysterious Designer I think. There is abundant evidence somewhere for all this.

So they say.

Must be tough for the IDiots to want respect desperately from people that matter (i.e. mainstream scientists and liberal Christians), but still find themselves courting fringe elements like the Chalcedon Foundation and Raelians.

Isn't that weird that they care? After all, mainstream scientists are all wrong about a great many issues in science, and liberal christians are going to Hell for accepting Evilution...

I think they know, deep down, that their idea is intellectually bankrupt.

Well, considering that the Raelians believe we were created by some extraterrestrial thingy, I thought they embraced ID pretty much by default. But they're being naive if they think IDists are going to allow any designer other than Jesus's daddy to be mentioned in science class. For the moment, the possibility of aliens as the designers (of life on earth at any rate) is a good smokescreen for the IDists when people ask if this isn't just about the Bible. But since the IDists' main preoccupation is with that nasty materialist philosophy, the notion of the creator being some entity within the bounds of philosophical naturalism isn't going to work.

They're a couple of peas in a pod, so they might as well join forces.

Now they should team up with the time-cube guy to lend some mathematical obfuscation to their collective kook farts, and allow them to argue for "equal time" in the physics texts as well as the biology texts.

Someone should hint to them that perhaps the Illuminati believers are on to something, it's all a conspiracy to fool the world with this make believe Darwinism clap-trap.

What a team they would all make! The mind boggles!

True enough, Albion, maybe they have decided to hold their noses for now so that they can maintain the charade with the intention of dumping their UFO kook asses like a hot potato the moment they can do so without discrediting themselves.

The Raelians have always been ID'ers. They are covered in Roger Pennock's <a href="http://www.secweb.org/bookstore/bookdetail.asp?BookID=208" target="_blank">Tower of Babel</a>.

This looks like the Raelians trying to latch onto the ID movement. It would be significant if the ID movement embraced the Raelians.

If the ID groups (Discovery Institute, for example) do not allow Raelians in, will it be suffecient evidence that they do not allow "any" designer? After all, they like to claim there is the possibility that the ID is ET.
