Extremist Christians shout and blare music to disrupt peaceful pagan celebration :(

I'm really surprised at this. I was always under the impression that most of the Christians in Cal. were more tolerant than the ones around the Bible Belt... {Edited to replace long URL with link - Pantera} [ May 04, 2002: Message edited by: Pantera ]
|

I remember when I was living in Fargo a few years back, there was some Wiccan or pagan fest going on. A group of Christians tried to disrupt that too. {Edited to replace long URL with link - Pantera} [ May 04, 2002: Message edited by: Pantera ]
|

You give the bible belt christians too much credit. Those christians were a hell of a lot more tolerant than the bible belt christians. If this was in the bible belt I can assure you the chistians would have threatened to mame and/or kill all of them, and possily even go through with it. (and the police would have been members of the christian mob)

Another story on the same incident, with more details: Chocolate Bunny Survived but 'Wiccagate' Probe Still Urged
Parts of California are quite tolerant. (It seems that freethinkers tend to live closer to the coast.) This was in Lancaster, which is inland a bit. |

The fundies in California are just as fanatical as you'll find in the bible belt (just ask Mad Kally!). I have fundie relatives in California, and I just can't imagine that you could find worse in the bible belt (more of them, but no worse).

See, God could reveal himself and his plan, but then no one would get to go to hell. That's why we have JF here as his high ranking agent to torture us with his spealling and superior grasp of sarcasm |

How touching to see that in a world full of starvation, violence, and poverty, these good Christian people took the time to gather together to spare the life of the chocolate rabbit.
