As an atheist parent of two teen-age boys, I would echo what DMB said. Since I think that our current lives is all there is that we'll have any consciousness of, it behooves me to try to do things as right as possible the first time and to enjoy the ride.

Robinsin, you stated above:

Quote:
God still talks to me, not as often as when I was first converting, but every so often.
May I ask you an honest question?

Presuming you believe the above to be true, how do you objectively determine that the entity 'talking' to you is not the devil? What criteria do you use to separate your god and the devil pretending to be god? Obviously, I don't believe in either of those supposed paranormal creatures, but were the devil to exist in reality, wouldn't such deception be one of it's most often used, and effective tools?

Now I'm conversing with a guy that has a handle WWsD? May I ask what that stands for and not ass u me?

It stands for whatever I feel that I want the S to stand for. Could be Satan, could be Scooby, could be Solomon.

What brings you here everyday? What are you accomplishing by posting here and spending time with me? Are you young, old or mid-lifed? Do you have children?

What brings me here? I like reading some of the discussions, and I like jumping in here or there. In a world where the majority of people are theists, I also like knowing that I am not alone.

What I accomplish is difficult to say. Personally, I enjoy thinking and attempting to debate once in a while. It keeps me on my toes for the situations that somtimes crop up IRL.

In discussion with you or any other theists, my only goal is to keep ideas flowing and to bury misconceptions.

As for who I am: I'm a 3rd year PhD student in biology (w/ focus on molecular biology and genetics), I have no children, nor do I ever plan on having any, and I'm 27.

My religious background can be found and read about in the atheist testimony thread. At this time I'm jsut picking through my nKJV and comparing it to the Oxford Annotated that I have, just for funsies and to compare texts.

You should poke around in the higher forums and look at some of the threads there. EoG, E/C, and BC&A are my favorites. I think you'll also find a lot of good examples demonstrating how one should go about addressing points in others posts.

Have fun!

Well, I posted in one thread, and there you were, then I posted in this one, and there you were...I just thought that...

I would never doubt your comprehension skills, just as I would never doubt your stunning good looks.

And, such as it is, I was hoping that you were stalking me.

Such is life though...such is life.

Robinsin - Nah, you didn't get off on the wrong foot with me. I was just pointing out the follies of saying god bless on a largely non-theistic message board. My apologies if I inadvertantly came over as angry or mean or anything like that.
