It's a shame the JS doesn't have more validity however, it would be nice to believe in a Jesus that only said a few of the things attributed to him, rather than all of the b.s. It pretty much leaves me back where I started.</strong>

The Seminar and its methods are incessantly discussed on relevant groups. If you find the group XTALK, there was a major discussion of the Seminar's methods last month. I didn't pay it any attention; I know of no real way to determine which sayings might be authentic, although there might be several for showing which ones aren't authentic. Because there is no way to demonstrate authenticity -- the same problem NT scholars have everywhere when dealing with the historical aspects of their legend cycle -- the JS remains an interesting poll, no more.

Many of the prophecies of Jesus and the other Hebrew prophets are coming true. Look for a counterfeit peace in the Middle East and the building of the third temple in Jerusalem.

Thanks for warning

Could you comment on topic of this thread (end of the world)? There has been a fair amount of discussion but no real effort to substantiate the Christian position.

As I have said before, most chrisitans had started prophecying since the birth of christinity and guess what happen to the christians in the end, only endless disappointment and confusion. Therefore, most likely this time, things are going to be the same again.

War has been a favorite sport of Middle Easterners for at least the last 5000 years -- they just can't stop themselves from fighting. So predicting war in the Middle East is hardly a difficult task.

Also, the building of the Third Temple is a self-fulfilling prophecy, since it is presented as a Good Thing to do. Complete with the sacrificing of a red heifer.

This is my unprofessional opinion, but I think at this point, any 'fulfilled prophesies' are the intentional work of Christians who want to keep their 'Word' true.

Conspiratorial, I know, but now that they 'know' what the prophecy means, why not help it along to prove their point?

Hey, ya never know.

Revelation was written about the Roman Empire, not a coming end time that isn't here yet.
And Jesus did not return to save John's followers.

There is an explanation from scholarship that Jesus SIMPLY MADE A TERRIBLE MISTAKE. This proposition establishes that Jesus was a person outraged by injustice due to his deep compassion for the poor, the social outcasts, the downtrodden and the unfortunate cripples. It is argued that in the present kingdom, these unfortunates were last. Jesus believed truly that all men are created equal and more; that God will compensate the poor for their misfortune such that the last shall be the first.

Remember that biblical scholars do not believe that Jesus is divine; at best he was a compassionate teacher, faith healer and an APOCALYPTIC prophet pretender like John.

The scholars contend that Jesus believed with all his might that God will even the score in the imminent "kingdom of God". Unfortunately his faith was sorely misplaced.

Bear in mind that the overwhelming weight of scholarly opinion says that all 4 gospels were written after 70 CE. The sacking of Jerusalem looked like one part of the prophecy, the punishment of the unrighteous had taken place; but where is the risen returning King? To make Jesus look like a genuine prophet, the evangelist made Jesus describe the fall of Jerusalem. To keep the hope of Jesus coming back as king of the kingdom of God, the synoptics added more heavenly events and stories which up to now Bible-believing Christians are waiting for.

There you are, a kind-hearted man believing deeply that God is just being disappointed by his god. Jesus made a terrible mistake.

This sounds like nonsense to me. I have every version of every bible ever written transcipted onto a CD, and a search for 'Dracula' returns zero hits.

Interestingly, 'Herman Munster' returns 15.

Not strictly true. It's quite some time since I read it myself, but I seem to recall there was a couple of other chapters after that. They were mumbo jumbo as well though.
