without the obvious signs that a prophecy should be made that will come true,You know it looks like-prophesy-it came true.

One sure fire way to date a text is right after the event it prophesized! So . . . yes . . . the Synoptics "prophesized" the destruction of the Temple . . . only they were written after the event!
It is a bit like me claiming I predicted the JFK assassination. I did . . . trust me! Another thing is to make the prophecy so damn vague you can attach it to anything. The infamous Croeseus (sp?) is such a case. He gave shit-loads of $$ to the Oracle at Delphi to ask if he would win if he attacked Persia. The response: "Croeseus will destroy a great empire." Of he went . . . and lost . . . fortunately for him the Persian Emperor put him up in a nice place--not the usual "spike entrails on west gate" hospitality--and allowed him to send a "complaint" letter to the Oracle. Well . . . of course he destroyed an empire . . . his own! Anyways, there is a guy who will pay you 1 Million Dollars! [!--Ed.] if you can prophesize successfully. Prophecy serves as a way to "legitimize" current events in the great sacred mileu. --J.D. |

I understand you to mean
If there were real people that actually really predicted real events (not events that can be easily created by anyone) in the future the answer would be No.

Until that happens, that will be a great goal to shoot for. When that does happen, I can stand up and yell, "I told you so!" |

I think he also forgot that Ezekiel 36-37 referred to *contemporary* events, i.e. the Jews' return from captivity at the hands of Assyrians and Babylonians.
Why are you quoting this non-prophecy as support for your position after it's been refuted over and over again, Magus? Mere ignorance, simple incompetence or intentional dishonesty? Do you think anyone of us here would be convinced if you quoted from a civil-war history book alluding to President Lincoln's assassination as a "prophecy" of president Kennedy's death? |
