Question Was Jesus a Creationist?

Creationists contend Jesus supported their literalist view, but did He? See "What Jesus Said About the Creation Story and the Flood" at Faith & Reason Ministries, http://www.faithreason.org/

I would say that, yes, he did. The web page has Luke quoting Jesus as referring to the"creation of the world," but points out that neither Matthew nor Luke have this phrase. So on the 2 source hypothesis and assuming Markan priority you could say that the authenticity of that statement is not strongly attested.

Both Luke and Matthew quote Jesus as referring to "the very day Noah went into the ark and the Flood came and killed them all." The phrase is common to Mat and Luke but absent from Mark, so it could represent Q material I suppose. So, this is well-attested, I'd say.

Mark and Matthew have Jesus say "in the beginning, at the time of creation, it was said, 'God made them male and female,'" so this is well attested too.

So, I'd say creationists are supported in their belief that Jesus did or would support their literal interpretation of Genesis.

The point is these are still very few verses, and they must be, in light of all the other evidence, "figurative, not exactly what Jesus said, or simply writer embellishments."

"The entire Gospel of John makes no mention of the Creation Story or the Flood."

BTW, thanks for the compliment on my looks!
