I hate those. At times I wish there were a hell, because the scum that make reciprocating java popup links would most assuredly be there.
Of course, I would to, but if things got bad I could glance over at the script kiddies and java scum getting reciprocating popups from demons...

Well, according to the tentmaker site (I've also found them useful for the noah's ark scam btw)
<a href="http://www.tentmaker.org/Dew/Dew7/Dew7/D7-AGreatChristianScam.html" target="_blank">http://www.tentmaker.org/Dew/Dew7/Dew7/D7-AGreatChristianScam.html</a>

" One of the individuals who I interviewed, who lost approximately 30,00 thousand dollars to Ron Wyatt, went to Israel with him, supposedly to see some of these sights and record them on film. An assignment editor of a major television station in Nasheville went with them. Not only did this individual not see any of these incredible discoveries, but his wife was told by one of Ron Wyatt's sons that the chariot wheels that Ron supposedly discovered in the Gulf of Aqaba were planted there by Ron. Mr. Wyatt gave this couple some coins which he supposedly found at the Ark of the Covenant site. Again, one of Wyatt's sons informed the wife that Wyatt bought those coins. Gentle, soft-spoken Ron verbally abused an Arab car rental agent when the agent told Mr. Wyatt that his son was to young to drive the vehicle. "

They looked like real wheels to me (the full chariot encrusted in coral looked just like a coral mound)
But barely buried in sediment seemed a bit suspicious for a 4000 year old find.

If they found bones then they could only be a few years old at the most. Sea water dissolves bone tissue completely very quickly.

Tollhouse:

I'll probably jump in that thread, but AnswersinGenesis even has a page or 2 debunking Wyatt's claims, such as <a href="http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/magazines/docs/v21n2_ark.asp" target="_blank">this one.</a>

Oh, and

<a href="http://www.answersingenesis.org/docs/1154.asp" target="_blank">this one too.</a>

The links above are excellent!

I am impressed that there is a group of Christian Scientists who examine the evidence and don't jump to sensationalist conclusions. Maybe they have realized that if they do otherwise, it will only further discredit what is already overly incredulous subject matter.

What amazes me, however, is how quickly the media harps on the claims of quacks like Wyatt (sometimes they still run that damn Noah's Ark movie, or refer to it). Next time I see this in progress I will direct them to answersongenesis.com, to hear what conscientous christian scientists say about this type of fraud.

Bravo.

Pardon the sidetrack. Maybe <a href="http://www.panicware.com/" target="_blank">this</a> will help with those pop-ups. It works pretty well on my system.

Quite frankly, I asked this before: As far as I know, there are no Egyptian records of the Red Sea crossing ever found. The Egyptians were good record keepers, and the loss of an entire army wouldn't go unnoticed I would think. Also, but again, as far as I know, contemporary records of Greeks and Persians, Babylonians, Assyrians, make not mention of the great Jewish kingdom neither. And I believe that also for the Romans, what happened in Palestine province, inclusive the destruction of the temple was hardly worth mentioning. And now that I am at it, even the prosecution and killings of the Christians in Rome seems to be a figment of their imagination or a kind of death wish?? The Romans had the view that "you never know"; let's embrace every God.

There's wheels from supermarket trollies in my local canal too, does that mean someone tried to cross it in one?

Marcus Aurelius, Roman emperor from 161-180 CE, seems to hold the "Death Wish" interpretation of Christian martyrs. He wrote that a person always ought to be prepared for death, as long as "...this readiness comes from a man's own judgment, not from mere obstinacy, as with the Christians, but considerately and with dignity... without tragic show." (Meditations XI:3)

Apparently it wasn't so much that the Romans were eager to kill Christians, as much as it was that the Christians were eager to be martyred and go to heaven. Reminds me of David Koresh's group, Muslim suicide-bombers, or those UFO cult members, whose 'martyrdoms', incidentally, add nothing to the truth-value of their respective claims.
