Question YEC and Race?

A thought just came to my head. How does Race fit in with Young Earth Creationism? How can all the races come to being as they have in 6,000 or so years?

My childhood fundy-church race-experts offered the enlightened and well-evidenced belief that Blacks became that way as a punishment by god for some sin committed by their ancestors.

From the lips of Kent Hovind himself. Note the advanced genetic concepts put forth:

Quote:
The fourth (and I think the best) theory says the races came from the Tower of Babel. Genesis 10:20 says, "These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, in their nations." Perhaps all families, countries, nations, and tongues were created or developed from this event. Maybe the colors were divinely created at that time, or maybe they are just a natural product of a small group of people speaking their own language and marrying back to their own parent stock. Racial traits become more pronounced in a small inbreeding group. The Bible isn't clear on this subject. These four theories are the only ones that I know. I efer the Tower of Babel explanation. I know the Bible does say in Acts 17 that all nations are of one blood so there is no reason for anyone to be a racist.

Yes, one ultra right-wing whacko explanation is that blacks are the descendants of Cain, as a "punishment" for having killed his bro. Of course, this says nothing about the other races.

I guess this is off topic, but if anyone fits the stereo type emerging in my head of the demographics of atheism it is you Rick.
There was a post that died out that challenged my assumptions. I think primarily due to fear they would prove true.
I am starting to think that heavy exposure to narrow forms of Christian fundamentalism is a large contributing factor to people adopting atheism. I also think it shapes their thinking in various ways long after they reject Christianity.

Well,
I'm sure my stereotype of an atheist is much more flattering than your stereotype of a Christian fundamentalist. (Mine actually is flattering in many ways-intelligent, well educated etc.)
So I'm glad you are flattered.

I'll find it.
I made assumptions as to the reason prisons are populated by few atheists. My assumption is that most atheists are affluent, intelligent, well educated whites. Someone strarted a thread as a kind of survey where people could post their demographic info.
I now add raised by fundamentalist Christians.

You mean you don't think we're a bunch of lying, god hateing, bible bashing, christian persecuting, ammoral scum who reject GOD'S TRUTH so we can persue an immoral lifestyle without having to be accountable to the man in the sky, even through he allegedly already paid the price?

What kind of Christian are ya?
