Bummer man, but you gotta do what you gotta do, and I don't blame you. Thanks for all the rampant hilarity and best of luck.

Koy,
Remember me? I appreciate your reasons for leaving the forums. I’ve been in lurker mode for many months now. I used to post massive essays here, carefully researching my arguments, editing my posts, and so forth. And I don’t believe I changed a single theist’s mind on any major issue. The thing is, though, I had a completely different motivation for posting. Years ago, when I first discovered non-theist content on the web, I came across alt.bible.errancy where the very dedicated Farrell Till still leads the charge. Something he wrote once stuck in my mind: he posts mainly for fellow sceptics and agnostic lurkers, or those who aren’t committed one way or the other. For myself, I have no idea how many such uncommitted readers frequent these forums. In the end, I think, I posted mainly for my own benefit: I got a chance to learn from the research and from the dialogue, and to improve my skills as a writer and debater. I stopped posting because I no longer had the time to put as much effort as I wanted in posting. I don’t think you should feel disappointed that more progress isn’t made in changing people’s minds with these debates. We should post mainly for our own enjoyment and education. In terms of educating theists, well, we need to keep our sense of humour. Yes, theism seems to have done more harm than good, but since most people who ever lived on this planet have been theists in spite of the lack of much actual evidence, there must be strong, non-rational, evolutionary factors at work. And a universe, which compels trillions of people to die carrying a wildly false, anthropocentric worldview, must be so indifferent towards us that we just have to laugh. Anyway, I enjoyed your posts, Koy. |

Damn! I hope you're not gone for good. I'll never forget the first time I found your posts; I was sitting here alone laughing like a nutcase. What a hoot!

Earl...
...it's just possible that a theist might teach you something. |

Hello Luv Luv! Exactly what would that "teaching" be, my good apologist?

Oh please, Koy was all rhetoric and that's it. I sure as hell won't miss him one bit. Another stubborn, militant, close-minded rhetoric shit dispenser is the last thing we should be expressing regrets about leaving. Bye!
