Magus, you aren't an atheist and that disqualifies you from spouting on how the world appears or will appear to atheists.

If your god had really created human beings, he would be responsible for our defects. I don't think he exists and I put our defects down to our basic animal nature and drives, just as much as our social virtues.

Since the beginnings of modern science, the developed world, at least, has got much better. We are healthier and living longer. On average we are better educated and in Europe anyway we are less likely to be weighed down by the deadly superstition of religion and are now less violent.
