This is a fascinating thread, and one I couldn't resist jumping into at this point.

MDMA is, IMO, one of the least addictive substances out there. This is because the first time you take a proper dose of MDMA it is generally the best experience you will have on the drug and your enjoyment will very gradually decrease from that point on. This is of course based only on my own experience, but anectodal evidence abounds that being a hardcore E-head (as I was for a while) is just a 'phase'.

As for the risk of health complications, the jury is still out on this one, but my personal experience suggests that the supposed 'permanent' serotonin depletion is more myth than fact- I did an average of 4 doses a week for about 18 months (combined with frequent crystal methamphetamine use) and came out of that phase none the worse for wear, if a bit on the slim side. I haven't taken an E in over 2 years now (mostly due to the fact that I wouldn't be caught dead in a rave at the age of 24), and have noticed no ill effects whatsoever.

Think of it this way - over 1 million brits take MDMA every weekend, yet deaths and other serious health complications are VERY few and far between when compared with drugs such as alcohol or aspirin. In addition to this, to my knowledge there still have not been any deaths that have been scientifically proven to be caused by MDMA alone, instead of other factors such as improper mixing with other drugs, extreme dancing and dehydration, or overconsumption of water.
