You should have been down there in the old days (early '60s) when night launches of the liquid-fuel rockets (early Saturns, for example) habitually blew burning fuel all over the sky when the range safety officer zapped them a mile or two down range! Some real spectacular (and expensive) fireworks.

I was starting to think they would not get this one off before the "window" closed. It is nice to see it is off. (Assuming that NASA did not launch it with a flaw that dooms it...)

The European Mars probe, launched in June, has a British-built lander called 'Beagle 2'.
