I took Yoga in community college (the notorious CEGEP system) in religion-phobic Montreal, and the religious side was the best part. Of course, Yoga being the mellowest of the phys. ed. electives, we were 24 hippies and one power-lifter (Yoga shrinks your muscles so you can pack on more strength without getting muscle-bound).
Dave, our teacher, was an amazing chanter, and put me into orbit. I figured out that he'd been to the same ashram as my guitar teacher just from his vibe. I don't meditate or do the exercises, but I've been generally imperturbable ever since that course. |
