Ooh, I simply LOVE it when people who reduce the word "you" to a single-letter grunt feign knowledge of science!

Please, kind sir. If u cast your eyes toward the north of this site, u will notice that we have an entire forum dedicated to discussing the subject of evolution. I politely invite u to grace us with a visit, where I'm sure u can teach us a thing or two. Evolution not considered a scientific theory, u say? Well FUCK, I never realised. Please, I want to learn from u. Do say u will come.

I'm waiting.

Step X: Be respectful and kind to people of other faiths. Tell them you are becoming an atheist and note their reaction. If they get upset and tell you that atheists are evil and immoral, and tell you that thier god is the right god because it says so in their god's book, then count that as one more reason to become atheist.

If, after deconverting, you notice a deity-shaped hole in your thought life, resist the temptation to fill it with something; instead, let it close up by itself. In particular, while Ayn Rand may have said some useful things, she is not your lord and savior.

Step X: Repeat to yourself these phrases every day.
Faith is different than trust.
Faith is by definition illogical.
I will not get struck by lightning if I question my faith.
Popularity of belief does not make it true.
Ignorance isn't evidence.

What? faith is illogical?
Yes. By definition:

Faith

1. Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
2. Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. See Synonyms at belief. See Synonyms at trust.

Quote:
So what is logical? U mean science? Do u know that every scientific theory must depend on some degree of trust/faith in order for them to proceed to their conclusion?
See phrase 1:

"Faith is different than trust. "

Quote:
For example, Newton developed mechanics based on one of the premise that mass will remain constant within an enclosed system. But this premise was proven wrong by Albert Einstein who stated energy and mass are interconvertible.
Faith is what prevents someone from changing their beliefs when they are proven wrong.

9) Begin having theological discussions with your typical theists, and realize how shallow their thoughts on their theology run.

Step #1: Stop going to church, church events and stop hanging out with religeous people.

Distance from the lifestyle is very important. It's an addiction, really. A recovering alcoholic pretty much has to stop hanging around his drinking buddies and going to bars. Distance clears the mind of the rhetoric so you can hear your own thoughts. Usually if you have a chance to think for yourself, can clear your mind of the clutter and see reason on your own. I figure, what's the harm? God will guide and forgive you if he's there, and if he really does care about you. If he doesn't, well, he's either not there or not worth your time.
