As of 6/5/03 05:51am there are 3,127 Atheists signed up for the atheists meetups.

Let's see how long it takes us to increase that to 3,500!

That means all of you should post about atheists meetups to all the usual suspects and the other places too.

Try not just atheists message boards but also Evolution, Physics, zoology, and other message boards which are likely hang outs of an atheist. Also perhaps try Dawkins fan sites?

If you want to subtly OUT yourself to friends put the atheists meetup site web address in the footer or signature of your email.

Due to Atheists meetups, I have a whole network in the small town area now of atheists and we are helping move one guy out of his apartment this weekend.

We had an atheists movie night last month and watched a Woody Allen movie in which the main character (woody) was an atheist. THen we also watched Monty Python's the Life of Brian.

Putting up the flyers in the local area have also helped me know which local hangouts are atheists friendly.

THere is this one cafe/coffee shop, ultra liberal that the atheists flyers NEVER get torn down or covered up and have been up for
over 7 months!

You are right that there are 568 potential cities but thus far people have only signed up in 405 cities. Remember that some of the cities were added more recently (new cities are added each month so they aren't up to speed yet ) and then there are other cities in countries where blasphemy is illegal so you won't get crowds there.

The funniest meetup.com news report I read was that several people had signed up the the "Sex in the City" meetups in I think Islamabad, Pakistan but they had no idea that was a TV show, they thought it was truly a sex meetup of some sort. LOL.

I'm glad to see that the Hampton Roads area has 28. I haven't been to a meetup yet but a few seem to be making the outings.
