It could have been because of how others responded to you.

C.S.Lewis believed in purgatory, evidently - so that's two already - unless they have to be alive!

Radorth, if you get uncomfortable with the way this thread is going, just PM any of the moderators and we'll shut it down. It's tough to have a thread specifically aimed at you - especially if it gets weird.

Thank you Bree and I must say I am surprised and heartened to see the moderator make such an offer. I was assured three or four times any of my complaints would be greeted with "laughter." So far, it's OK and usually works out to the offender's disadvantage.

Thanks again

I did not want to get involved here, but Rad has already mentioned my name and now has missstated something I wrote.

Rad seems to feel that I have mistreated him. I got involved in moderating a difficult thread in church-state separation, and finally had to advise other posters not to respond to Rad and delete some of his posts to keep things from breaking out in a flame war. I told him at that point that if he had any complaints about my moderation, he could lay them out in the Bugs forum, but that I didn't think the admins would do anything - but maybe they needed a good laugh. That remark about laughing at him was confined to the particular sequence of events there.

Having a straight conversation with Rad is a virtual impossibility, because he continually misconstrues remarks as he has shown here, and many posters have decided not to respond to his posts, however provocative. I intend to return to that strategy, and I will sit back and see if Gurdur can do what others have tried to and failed at.

Hiya, Toto
Ta muchly for your post --- I see why.

Okeydokey, here's my reasoning:
  1. As I said repeatedly to Radorth, his often mentioning of how "persecuted" he is is what surprises me
  2. so I'ld like to find out just why he emphasizes it so much
  3. plus I have other questions about his own form of Christianity --- owing to his comments on the "Prince of Peace" thread
  4. If he is really persecuted, then he has obvious recourse to SecWeb Admin --- and I gave him an example of doing just that
  5. but I'm not interested in that ---- and I tried questioning Radorth in an obviously non-provocative manner designed not to make him feel defensive
  6. It's not working, is it ?
Even Gurdur can fail ; the reason here being that some posters simply couldn't resist the urge to have a jab at Radorth and thus muck things up (no, I do not mean you, Toto, your post was fully justified, IMHO)
  7. so unless Radorth can ignore the flack here, (which he could use just to try backing up just how much he is "persecuted"), and bear with me and my questions, and anyone else's non-provocative, non-antagonistic questions, then I'ld say this thread becomes a failure -- and the fault would not be Radorth's alone, or mine at all.
  8. So, IMHO, there's a bit of "group mobbing" going on here (not you, Toto) ---- I don't think it fully justifies Radorth's feelings of persecution, but sure as hell it ain't helping matters --- atheists shooting themselves in the foot again by being unnecessarily antagonistic, not to mention obsessive.

Over to you, Radorth (please keep on answering my questions); ignore the obsessive mobbing and feel free to contact the mods here at any time.

And a big THANK-YOU to the Moderators of this forum

I did answer this I think, but you still seem to want me to use the word "persecuted" when that is not how I feel. I more often respond with cracks about hypocritical behavior, lies, misquotes, mind reading, irrational rationale and double standards. If you want to give me examples, we can go from there.

My sarcastic remark to Toto for example, about helping Radcliffe find his quotes was strictly connected to Toto's preaching about my lack of sources. Toto attributes this to my persecution complex or something, but I am simply pointing out his double standards. I intend to continue noting such blatant behavior BY THOSE who preach to me about posting standards. You can call it a complex if you like, but I'm just pointing out hypocrisy, and satirizing the human condition.

If you read my last posting "Some problems with Radorth" (in the Secular activist forum of all places) you might better understand my motives.

I simply think we all tend to act holier than thou, and the sooner we admit, the more progress we will make. I also think my comments just PO people who think they are holier than I am and are determined to prove it. My claim that they can't live up to their own rules will not go unproven, given time.

It's your preaching and not living up to it that you hear about.

Unfortunately you rebuked no one else until you saw what a mess it was turning into.

Uh huh. Then why do I keep hearing it since I'm not talking about that anymore?

How about you just take your own advice and ignore me?

Okeydokey, I'll stop using that word for now.

Ah well, I always try to live up to what I preach myself --- but I am merely mortal and fallible.
Not to mention bloody-minded.

1) May I ask you, Radorth, apart from your stated aims in the thread you cited, would it possibly be a good idea to adopt a more optimistic approach here on this board ?
To have even more positive aims ?

2) If I may ask, do you feel happy in your Christianity, as well as with it ?
Do you find Christianity helps you feel better overall in life, or just do better, or both ?

I have a question for you, Rad - it's not intended to be antagonistic; I'm just curious:

Do you enjoy posting on the Sec Web?

I live for irony, and there is plenty here to entertain me. I like to put my faith and wits to test. I like to write and do my small part to spread the truth and Gospel. I suppose I'm as happy as anyone who cares about justice and righteousness can rationally be after reading a history book.

To me it is like asking, was Jesus happy? Does "he endured the cross for the joy set before him" mean he was happy, or that he lived for the joy of seeing people set free through his legacy and his seat in heaven? One who loves people truly will bear certain burdens according to the grace given them, will give up some temporal happiness for their benefit, and insure his or her own future happiness. I do not say I am just like Jesus in that way, but I hope I am or will be.

Of course in my case I don't endure some things as well as he, like Helen for example.
