Default Hindus don't like Valentine's Day?

Oh, the wacky world of religion!

Hindus in India are protesting against Valentine's Day and burning V-day cards, claiming it goes against "traditional Indian values."

First Muslims in Nigeria cry "Down with beauty!" Now the Hindus cry "Down with love!"

And, of course, all of them are shouting, "Up with ugliness and hate!"

I don't think why Hindus could hate anything like that ...

I think it is more toward "Cultural" point of view rather than toward Valentine's Day.

Too many people in India thinks that its people are still too Westernized and slowly forgetting their roots. Morality, crime and lack of understanding of Religion (and ... ahem ... God) is in rise in India and some more conversational types consider that too much influence from West is the reason for that.

Since Valentine's Day has nothing to do with any religious ceremonies (such as Christmas etc), then it is an easy target.

Even in Malaysia, Muslims already asking for "fitrah" (an official religious order from its Clergymen) to ban Valentine, stating that such celebrations causing teenagers in Muslim community to do things which is not accordance to Islam ... such as sexual activities (as IF they needed an excuse or a special day for that ... Sacrasm) or waste of money.

PS : I know plenty of Indians in Malaysia who celebrate Valentine's Day.
Either way ... Happy Valentine

Default Valentines show a heart.

The symbol they chose for love is a heart. The heart is a large ugly pulsating muscle that pumps blood thoughout the body. Love doesn't reside in a bloody damn fluid pump. That is almost disgusting. Love resides in the limbic lobe of the brain, temporal lobes, cingulate gyri with connections to autonomic nuclei and association cortex. The cards for love should have a picture of the limbic part of the brain.

If Hindus hate love, and Muslims hate beauty (in women), then Christians must be the ones who hate thinking.

I refer you to the immortal words of Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer:

"Love isn't brains, children. It's blood. Blood screaming inside you to work its will! I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it."

My reply : They could use the brain as a symbol for love, but viewing a brain from the side will remind too many people of someone's butt ... I think I will stick with Hearts rather than the brain.

My compliment : Nice ... very nice indeed ...

I favour the limbic brain because that is where love is conscious. The heart is just a pump for blood yet with sexual love it does pump faster but the poor muscle doesn't know shite about what is happening.

It could be the blood, in the sense that blood flow to the limbic lobe allows its neurons to depolarise for love and sex. And the heart is the muscle pump.

But is could also be the autonomically innervated venous plexus in the penis that engorges to permit erection, perhaps we should include the clitoris and labia, and the vaginal musclulature. Then we can't ignore the spinal cord that conveys those autonomic impulses from the limbic lobe through the hypothalamus.

Oi, my lab tech reminds me not to forget the tongue, another essential sex organ. But that is sex only, and he reminds me that for the the most attractive male sexual/love feature is money. The more money, the more love. I don't know if that is fair in all cases. My wife married me when I was a second year university student in debt to about £4000.

Crikey, did I leave anything important out?

It is only the political party ShivSena who keeps on demonstrating against Valentine. Their founder has a bee in his bonnet about it for some reason.
But I am in sympathy with parents who complain that it is nothing more than a sales gimmick and they can't afford it.
