A Quote
"Any Latter-day Saint who denounces or opposes whether actively or otherwise, any plan or doctrine advocated by the prophets, seers, revelators' of the church, is cultivating the spirit of apostacy. One cannot speak evil of the lord's annointed... and retain the holy spirit in his heart. This sort of game is Satan's favorite pastime, and he has practiced it to believing souls since Adam. He {Satan} wins a great victory when he can get members of the church to speak against their leaders and to do their own thinking."
"When our leaders speak, the thinking has been done. When they propose a plan--it is God's Plan. When they point the way, there is no other which is safe. When they give directions, it should mark the end of controversy, God works in no other way. To think otherwise, without immediate repentance, may cost one his faith, may destroy his testimony, and leave him a stranger to the kingdom of God." Ward Teachers Message, Deseret News, Church Section Also included in the Improvement Era, (which was the official church magazine before the Ensign) Some of us escaped the bondage, but in many cases our families were left behind. This is not just mormonism it is organized religion, doing what it is designed to do, and certainly what it does best. Wolf |

Well I suppose the Mormons are at least honest. Thats a pretty good summary of religion. Now all we need is to hear that from the pope, Jerry Falwell, (insert religious leader here),...

Wolf, didn't you have an OP or post on another thread with extnsive quotes and/or links from several LDS prez ? Anyway, the LDS quotes reminded me of an Encyclical by J. P. II which had the same one word eternal truth: OBEY. <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" />

Here is the address for information both pro and con dealing with Mormonism. The site belongs to an ex-mormon who was excommunicated by the church. He committed the mortal sin of rational thought and reasoning. There is info on LDS doctrines, press releases, and church policy plus extensive quotes from LDS GA's. The detail is very good concerning the history of LDS, and it also contains biographical info on Smith and Young. There was a mad scramble to get the real dirt on the church and it's founders when documents that had been stored away from eveyone except the GA's, was spirited out and into the public forum. Mormon authorities never apologize for anything the church has ever done that may have been unflattering. They instead rely on the fluid and everchanging nature of a church run by the revelations of their current prophet. When the GA's are questioned about anything that may have occurred from today backward, they will almost always say "that was then now is now", and the prophet gets information from god all the time which means that policies and doctrines are constantly changing. What I saw was not a fluid revelatory policy, but rather knee jerk reactions to criticisms by non-members. The general authorities recognize that they are not allowed to take political stands when it comes to government legislaton and/or influence lawmakers to pass legislation favorable to LDS. They circumvent the system by issuing directives to individual members as to the issues the GA's want to address in the political arena. That in itself is not any different than any other christian sect, what is different is that LDS members are not allowed to question publically anything that is directed to the membership from the prophet. Therein lies the danger. Under the sugar coated silver lined concepts and doctrines of the church, there exists a form of slavery. I kinda wish the church would ex-communicate me. While I have nothing against the church personally, I wish they would stop calling me. Getting my name completely erased from the books should work nicely.
And if they keep coming around, they won't be surprised when I'm rude to them... |

independence and sanity. They will chase you unmercifully and unrelentingly until you are forced to be rude and nasty. After my beak with the church, I left the area and moved some 1000 miles away, and they sent the missionaries out to see me there. I moved again to another location in another part of the country and damned if they didnt track me down again. In the final confrontation, I was forced into being rude and nasty and threatening, and that is not really my style. And I certainly did not enjoy the forced nastiness they were able to solicit from me. And they had no reservations when it came to raising my blood pressure.
