For those who believe in a god....
For those who do believe in a god or a spirit world, please reply with your opinions.
I'm an open minded christion with the basic christion beliefs. I don't get all technical on stuff. I just pray, believe in Christ, and try to live a good life. The other side of me sometimes thinks that there are just some universal gods (one of which we call Jesus) and all these different religions don't matter. That believing means his way of life (love). That the bible is inspired by God, but not to be taken word for word. Kind of the way people who have near death experiences describe God. I definetly believe in a supernatural world because of evil supernatural events I witnessed during a wierd time of my life. I saw things you'd see on x-files except not that hardcore. I saw a manual radio station dial turn on it's own once. One day I kept seeing the number 43 everywhere I went. Another day it was 7. I heard evil voices. There's a bunch of other things too. I believe I was to see this to give me 100% belief. I sometimes think evil spirits created all this religious differences to keep us from getting close to God by giving religion a bad image. I believe in God/Jesus 100%, but not the chistion bible 100%. I'm cool either way with it, but sometimes I'm not sure which one it really is. Do you ever think that maybe there is such thing as a universal god(s)? I often wonder if Christianity is the "only" way to make it to heaven, why did he allow so many different religions all saying they're the "only" way. I would LOVE to have a near death experience of my own. |

It's late, and so a proper response will have to wait till tomorrow. Welcome to the SecWeb, though. You could stop by the Welcome Forum to intorduce yourself (although I never have.) You raise a lot of issues in this post, such as the argument from miracles, and the liberal view of Xian theology. Before I reply tomorrow, though, it would be a good thing if you clarify what you mean by a "universal god."

Wouldn't a Near Death Experience be a little too close for comfort?

Hey Rimstalker,
When I say Universal God I mean a god that is the same god for all the different religions, they just percieve him differently and use different names for him. So basically all that would matter is if you either believe and try to live good or you believe in try live evil. I guess I just think God is a lot more gentler than the Christion Bible makes him out to be. eh, as long as I DON'T die it wouldn't be too close for comfort, he he. To everyone else, HI! I'm a newbie on this board. [ February 07, 2002: Message edited by: Perry H ]
|

[qb] Hi Perry, and welcome to the board. Our perspective on life changes and there is nothing wrong with that. There is an unknown element in everybodies life and if this is called God that would be good and if it is called not-god that would be good too. We all recognize that it is there and you should considder yourself fortunate that you can still flirt with the divine to draw some benefit and consolation from it. Hi Perry,
Welcome to these boards Many people here don't believe in any God. It's not just that they reject Christianity, say. You say you believe in Christ but if the same God is behind all religions why did He bother to have Jesus die? If being a faithful believer in another religion is as good as being a Christian it seems like He may as well have skipped having Jesus go through all that, don't you think? No offense, but I'm guessing that regarding your experiences of evil - they seem a lot like what happens to someone who is mentally ill. Not that you are - just saying that there are other reasons why such things might happen to a person than supernatural evil. Do you have any ideas why the number 43 figured so highly, by the way? love Helen [ February 08, 2002: Message edited by: HelenSL ]
|
