It's my understanding that atheists are quite common in the more secular parts of the Muslim world, like Turkey, Bosnia, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Algeria, Morocco and Indonesia. They are rarer but still quite active in places like Egypt and Pakistan. I would hazard a guess that despite Western depictions of slogan spouting Jihadees, there are probably quite a lot of apathetic people in the Muslim world. It depends on the culture and current socio-political dynamic whether or not ordinary folks can make their personal views known.

I know some of you do not believe in anything. But I wanted to drop a not to all and let some know(that haven't read the Bible)that the Bible says that they will always be fighting.Secondly not all Muslims hate Christians.Until everyone comes together in peace(no matter what the others belief is)there will always be HATE.I have a belief system, some don't.I could give a ratts ass what someone else believes, I would still love the person within. There is too much political bullshit, and religion fanaticism!!

I don't want to seem officious or anything, but this seems more like a "let's-lump-every-Muslim-together-in-one-bunch-and-make-large-generalisations-about-them" thread than a discussion about Muslims vs. Atheists. Off to RRP. [ June 13, 2002: Message edited by: Bree ]
|
