Atheists are utterly beyond the pale. Atheists are totally inferior to people of the book (Jews Christians).
The KORAN says so. Don't you dare doubt the KORAN!

About a week after September 11, the major news networks were trying to educate their largely Christian audiences on Islam so that American Muslims could leave their houses without fear of being lynched. One of the cable networks, I forget which one, brought an Islamic scholar on the program to talk about Islam’s policy towards Christians. He reassured the audience at home that because of the shared Abrahamic heritage, Christians and Jews were in fact not infidels that Muslims spoke of so virulently, but rather “People of the Book” and were friends of Muslims so long as they did not attempt to attack Islam.

He quite clearly said that Osama bin Laden was misusing the word “infidel”, as a word for people that Muslims must fight against, by applying it to Christians and Jews. When asked what the term “infidel” really meant, he responded that its use in Koranic literature applies only to atheists.

Everyone at home was relieved, I’m sure.

That's what the word "infidel" means, atheists.

Isn't that like asking what do the KKK think of black people?

Cool

Actually 'infidel' essentially means 'unbeliever' as I understand it. So it would apply equally to atheists, hindus and other non-Abrahamic types. Christians and Jews are, as has been mentioned, 'Children of the Book.' Muslims accept that Jews and Christians worship the same god they do, they just feel that they're deluded about Mohammed.

let me re-phrase the question...

in county X, there are many religions and races.

For some reason, it becomes a muslim state (i.e. Iran, S. Arabia, Eygpt, etc).

What happens to the athiests? Can they live in peace with their Muslim countrymen?

From what I've gathered, atheists are generally unheard of in Muslim countries due to social pressures. Apostasy is even worse though--an atheist who was Muslim is to be killed, according to the Koran.

Thumbs down

You might want to correct the title of the thread. If you are going to stereotype a whole entire group of diverse individuals, at least have the common courtesy to spell their group name correctly.
