Frivolous' exit was done most respectfully. Good luck Frivolous, and hope there are no bad feelings -- (you realize we were just trying to snap you out of your fundie phase for your own good...) I'd recommend some advice by Carl Sagan: "It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring." Frivolous, you don't know it, but that was the best way to show us that your side has merit. Nothing else would have worked nearly as well. By showing us that you can admit wrong, you have shown us a religious but open mind, something that the cynical among us believe to be myth as much as Noah's flood. You admitted your big wrong, so I must at least admit my litte wrong. I said you would not admit defeat in this discussion. My hat is off.

Yay Frivolous! Way to not be an idiot. There is hope for fundies, after all...Now, are you going to apply your newfound reasoning capabilities to the rest of the Bible, or are you going to strike this argument from your memory and ignore it? I hope you will do the former.
Good luck, there's hope for you yet! EDIT: Of course, I still have a lot of trouble believing you aren't just a troll, so I'll take this whole thread with a grain of salt. -B [ December 06, 2002: Message edited by: Bumble Bee Tuna ]</p> |

A troll would never depart so far from the expected stereotype the way Frivolous just did.
Being paranoid of trolls can hurt more than help. It is better to err on the side of trust sometimes. |

I'd just like to add my voice to the number thanking Frivolous for a friendly concession, rather than the more commonly seen act of plugging one's ears and singing.
Frivolous, thank you, and I hope I would be able to make the same concession if I found myself in your place. |
